Thea Haillet is a world traveling Wedding Photographer based in Brooklyn, NY.
Growing up in the French countryside, Thea always dreamed of taking photos in Paris, Milan, and nearby Bourdeaux. She received her first camera (a medium format Contax which she still uses today!) at fifteen, and has been photographing beautiful things since. Although she considers herself a photographer of all things, the romance and raw emotion evident in her wedding photography work is her favorite thing to capture. When not photographing weddings, Thea can be found in her Brooklyn home with her fiancé Julian and their puppy Milo.
Mellie, client
Although she considers herself a photographer of all things, Thea naturally gravitates to the raw emotion, high fashion, and exquisitely designed world of luxury wedding photography. Nothing makes her happier than a gorgeous venue, a dazzling ring, or perfectly executed floral arrangements. These details bring back memories of her parents own wedding, a splendidly decorated affair at the family's home when Thea was a child. She remembers even then being interested in the photographer and how he captured the details of the day. Thea still loves to flip through her parents' album, and her main goal is to make her clients feel the way she feels when doing so.
Although I picked up a camera at a young age, the path to being named one of BRIDE magazine's Best Wedding Photographers in the World was a long and winding one.
I was born in Podensac, a small commune in southwestern France surrounded by vineyards and rivers. The beauty of my hometown inspired me greatly, and still does to this day.
When I was 9 I was gifted my first camera – a Contax AX – which I still use a bit today! This camera finally provided me a means to express my creativity, and photography is still my favorite artistic medium!
I helped photograph my first wedding at 15 years old after having just moved to the United States. My mentor Fran Jones was so kind to let me tag along and show me the ropes along the way.
I started Talon Haute Photography in earnest at 17, starting out small by shooting local weddings and events. This is where I built my foundation – photographing 25-30 weddings a year will build your skills in no time!
At 23 I was starting to make a name for myself in the industry, and had been published in a few smaller publications. I was shooting luxury weddings by this point, and one caught the eye of the editor for Martha Stewart Weddings – and I was published soon after!
Last year I had the absolute biggest honor of my lifetime of being named one of BRIDES Magazine's Best Wedding Photographers in the World. To be included on this list of fantastic photographers feels like a dram, and is one of my proudest moments as a business owner.
I typically photograph around 10 weddings a year, all over the world. This year I'm returning to Bordeaux, France for the first time since I was a little girl to photograph a childhood friend of mine. It truly is amazing where this job can take me!
We discussed our wedding photography vision with Thea early on in the process. The imagery she was able to capture on our wedding day is even more beautiful than I could ever imagine!
A friend of ours messaged us a few hours after learning we were engaged and told us we HAD to hire Thea to photograph our wedding – and she couldn't have been more right! We're so glad we were able to book her for our big day.
The emotions Thea was able to capture in each photograph are able to transport me right back to that very moment. I look forward to revisiting these memories with such vividity for the rest of our lives.
